Migrants have been paying as much as €20,000 to be smuggled into Europe on personal plane, say police.
They got faux diplomatic passports and placed on flights in Turkey that have been supposedly heading to the Caribbean.
However the planes stopped over in Europe, the place the migrants would declare their actual id and declare asylum.
Investigators have documented 5 separate landings in Italy, Germany, France, Austria and Belgium between October and December 2020, revealed Europol.
5 suspects — three in Rome and two in Brussels — have now been arrested and the legal community dismantled.
Two additional suspects stay on the run.
Along with the arrests, two plane have been seized price €426,000, in addition to a high-end automotive and gear to forge identifications.
